How To Update Samsung Galaxy ACE S5830 with CM9 Beta 8 Android 4.0.3 ICS Custom ROM

We’ve already told you how to upgrade the firmware of your Samsung Galaxy ACE S5830 to Android 4.0.3 ICS CM9 Beta 6 and Beta 7. But those are the older versions of CyanogenMod 9 and now we have the latest version which is the Beta 8.

Even so, please bear in mind that this is not the official firmware for Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich. There’s no official ICS update for the Galaxy ACE.

With CM9 Beta 8, you will get a more stable firmware. This version will also address the random force close errors from the previous versions. Also, we cannot guarantee the outcome of this installation. You could get your smartphone bricked and totally unusable. Just don’t blame us for any damages that could happen to your phone. Therefore, flash this custom ROM at your own risk. If you know nothing about rooting and custom ROMs, better ask for help.

What Works:

  • Boot, GSM, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Full HW acceleration
  • Sound, Headphones
  • GPS, All sensors (Proximity, rotation, etc)
  • CyanogenMod settings (not all)
  • Fixed animations
  • Facebook sync, Buttons backlight
  • Gmail, Browser, ICS keyboard
  • Games, YouTube, Deep sleep
  • Wi-Fi signal indicator

  • 800MHz is now default CPU clock
  • Fixed overclocking bugs
  • Added KSM for even better performance
  • Fixed IOCTL_KGSL_TIMESTAMP_EVENT errors
  • Clean libgenlock, improved KGSL page table size

Pre-Requisites:

–> You must have a rooted Samsung Galaxy ACE S5830. Warning: Rooting can void the warranty of your phone.

–> You have to create a backup of your important phone data such as your SMS messages, phone contacts, call logs, photos, music files and videos.

–> Check your phone’s battery. Make sure that its battery level won’t go any lower than 80 percent to avoid any unwanted power interruptions.

–> Enable your phone’s USB Debugging mode. Go to Settings > Applications > Development then check the box next to the USB Debugging option.

–> For users with custom Firmware, make sure that you have disabled the Lag Fixes from the recovery. You also need to ‘Wipe the Dalvik Cache’ to wipe all the cached files from your phone.

Assuming that you have followed the above stated pre-requisites, feel free to read on:
