Released by DevSwift1, XDA senior member, it shows that the tech community never neglects some out-of-favor phones such as the LG Optimus GT540.
This particular model has been in the market for quite a while, remember that it comes with the Android Donut which is far, far back in time. Many geeks have assumed that the Jelly Bean will not work on this phone but kudos to DevSwift1, the Android 4.1 operating system comes very much alive in this LG phone.
It is my duty to remind you that the ROM is pretty much in a basic testing phase and is honestly unstable still. You should take this only as a way to preview what Jelly Bean/CM10 can do as there’s lots of gaps in its functioning as of now.
Well, as with all jailbreaking instructional articles, I need to stress that this guide might cause damage to your phone if you are not experienced with jailbreaking. Techzek will not be responsible for any damage to your phone so please proceed at your own discretion.
Step 1: Make a backup of your settings for APN as this installation will wipe your data, original settings and all your apps (not those in the SD card though).
Step 2: Check that you have ClockworkMod recovery on your device.
Step 3: From this linked location here, have the ROM version downloaded.
Step 4: Once you have the .zip file, copy it to the SD card for your phone.
Step 5: Switch off your LG Optimus phone.
Step 6: Boot into ClockworkMod recovery. This can be achieved by pressing and holding both the Power and Home buttons to boot into it.
Step 7: You can scroll up and down with the volume keys and confirm an option by pressing the Power key.
Step 8: Choose the ‘Wipe Data/Factory Reset’ option.
Step 9: Confirm your action by selecting ‘Yes’ for the next screen.
Step 10: Have a little patience to wait for the completion of the data wipe.
Step 11: Choose ‘Install Zip From SDcard’ then select ‘Choose Zip From SDcard’. Click on the ROM file.
Confirm your action by selecting ‘Yes’ on the next screen.
Step 12: Select ‘Go Back’ to then choose to reboot your system now to boot into Cyanogen.
There you have it, congratulations, you should have the CM10 now running correctly on your device if you have followed the above mentioned steps accurately!
